UBC Alert desktop notifications will soon be able to deliver urgent messages directly to UBC IT-managed PCs and Macs through pop-up alerts that temporarily appear over the main display.
When a UBC Alert desktop notification is activated, a pop-up alert will temporarily appear over the main display of your UBC IT-managed devices. An alert tone may also sound if audio is enabled.
Alerts can be deactivated by clicking a button on the screen to close the window. There is no interruption to the user’s computer functions during the desktop notification, other than the visual alert.
UBC Alert Testing Friday, Sept 11
There will be a test of the UBC Alert system at 4:00pm on Friday, Sept 18, when you can expect to receive a test notification on your mobile and UBC-owned devices. Please ensure your mobile number is up-to-date in Workday in order to receive notifications.
