Campus Operations and Risk Management ensures UBC Okanagan’s campus remains safe, beautiful and functional year-round.

Proper maintenance of our buildings and grounds is essential for creating a welcoming environment that supports learning, collaboration and community engagement. The team is dedicated to preserving the university’s natural beauty and infrastructure, contributing to a thriving space for the entire campus community.

Landscaping Services

Facilities Management and United Irrigation & Landscaping provide landscaping campus to ensure a cohesive, beautiful campus all year long.

Snow and Ice Removal

The campus makes all reasonable efforts to keep campus roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and walkways free of snow and ice.

Wildfire Management

Campus Operations works with other departments across campus to minimize wildfire risk while maximizing tree cover and protecting ecologically sensitive areas on campus.

Recycling and Composting

Contracts for recycling, waste, and compost collection on campus are coordinated by Facilities Management and collected from outdoor and central indoor bins.

Hazardous Waste Management

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) works with contractors and campus partners to ensure hazardous waste is disposed of in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Designated Smoking Areas

For health and fire safety reasons, smoking on university property is only permitted in Designated Smoking Areas (DSAs), consistent with UBC’s Policy SC2 on smoking/vaping.

UBCO Gardening Club

The UBCO Gardening Club is an opportunity to learn about gardening from UBCO and community experts, to participate in hands-on gardening opportunities, and to socialize with fellow gardening enthusiasts.
