Landscaping Services
Facilities Management works with United Irrigation & Landscaping to provide landscaping services to the campus. These services include:
- Mowing
- Tree trimming
- Replacement of trees, shrubs and flowers
- Weed control
- Irrigation
- Landscape construction
Please email any service requests to jamie.armer@ubc.ca and facilities.ok@ubc.ca. An Archibus work request is not required.
Goals for campus landscape maintenance
- Reduce water use
- Reduce maintenance costs
- Ensure a beautiful and cohesive campus, four seasons of the year
- Ensure landscape is suited to the environment
- Any non-native plants are adapted to the Okanagan climate and are non-invasive
- Create a closed-loop waste system, where landscape mulch is used to
- create a natural mulch where it falls, or
- create compost which is re-used on campus
Pest Management
UBC follows an Integrated Pest Management Plan in order to minimize the potential health, safety, and environmental risks associated with the use of pesticides by. The plan follows two critical principles: keeping landscapes healthy to stop pest problems before they start, and using the least noxious means of pest control possible.
