Report an Incident

If you are staff, faculty, or a paid student (TA, work study, practicum, etc.) and you get injured at work, you should report the incident to your supervisor as soon as possible after the incident.

Once it is safe to do so, the incident must also be reported through the UBC Centralized Accident/Incident Reporting System (CAIRS).

Report an Incident (CAIRS)

If you work on campus and get injured, UBC is required to complete a report via CAIRS. Reporting the incident helps us make campus a safer place for everyone

When to report an incident through CAIRS

Examples of incidents that should be reported through CAIRS include, but are not limited to:

  • slips and falls
  • cuts and bruises
  • near misses
  • any other injury that happens on campus

Any event involving serious injury or death, a major leak of a dangerous substance, a major structural failure or collapse, or any other serious mishap must be immediately reported to Campus Security’s emergency line: 250-807-8111
