Keys and Salto
Access to campus rooms and buildings is managed using the Salto keyless access system. To access specific areas of campus, or to access buildings outside of regular building hours, you will need to use your Salto key or fob.
Submit a Salto access request
Salto access requests must be submitted by a designated Salto Approver.
HOw to use your key card
Salto cards must be updated daily (or, every day you are on campus) at a hotspot reader.
- Present your key to the reader.
- Wait approximately 5 seconds. Do not wave or move your key as this may prevent the key from fully updating.
- Once the blue light has stopped flashing, present the key at any Salto lock at which you have access to gain entry to the room.
Once updated, your access remains in place for 24 hours. You can update or re-activate your access at any time at a hotspot reader.
Hotspot readers are located at all building entrances.
Salto hotspot indicators
- Flashing blue light at hotspot: Key has been updated. Access will remain active for 24 hours.
- Flashing green light at hotspot: The building is already unlocked. Your key will still be updated.
- Flashing red light at hotspot: The building entrance is currently locked. You may not have access outside regular building hours. Your key will still be updated.
Salto card not working
If your Salto card is not working, please re-update your card at any hotspot reader and try again.
If you are still unable to access the area in question, please contact the Salto Administrator for assistance. For immediate access, please contact the Security dispatch office.
Salto lock indicators
The following may indicate a malfunctioning Salto lock. If you notice these indicators, please report them to the Salto Administrator.
- Flashing red light at door lock: May indicate low batteries. If the light flashes green after the red flash, quickly engage the handle to open.
- No lights at door lock: May indicate a dead battery or malfunctioning lock.
Forgotten Salto card
If you have forgotten your Salto card, you can contact the Campus Security dispatch office for assistance accessing your office or other areas where you are authorized. Please be prepared to provide your ID and someone from the Campus Security team will escort you or meet you at the location. You may need to wait a few minutes for someone to be available.
User responsibilities
Your Salto key is for your use only. Do not loan your key to anyone or let someone else into a room they don’t have access to. Salto access can be revoked without notice if misused.
Please report lost or stolen keys to Campus Security immediately.
