Intrusion Alarms
UBCO uses an intrusion alarm system to ensure the safety and security of the campus community. Key features include:
- 24/7 Monitoring: Alarm systems are active around the clock to detect unauthorized access.
- Automated Alerts: Immediate notifications are sent to Campus Security teams upon activation.
- Immediate Assistance: Activating a panic alarm instantly alerts Campus Security.
- Strategic Placement: Alarms are installed in high-priority areas.
- Alarmed areas: Warning stickers placed on doors leading into armed alarm spaces.
Requesting an alarm code
Follow these steps to request an alarm code:
- Department Approval: Obtain approval from your department to access the alarm system.
- Complete the Request Form: Fill out the designated alarm code form with accurate details.
- Submit to Security: The department approver submits the completed form to security.alarms@ubc.ca for processing.
- Confirmation: Campus Security will review the request and provide you with the alarm code and usage instructions upon approval.
Alarm codes are assigned on an individual basis and are for individual use only. Do not share your alarm code with others.
If an alarm code is no longer needed
Follow these steps to alert Campus Security when an alarm code is no longer required:
- Department Approval: Obtain approval from your department to remove access the alarm system.
- Complete the Request Form: Fill out the designated alarm code form with accurate details.
- Submit to Security: The department approver submits the completed form to security.alarms@ubc.ca for processing.
- Confirmation: Campus Security will review the form and provide notification once the alarm code is removed.
What happens if I trigger an alarm?
Campus Security will respond if an alarm is triggered. If you trigger an alarm while accessing a space, please remain in the area and wait for Campus Security to attend. You will be asked to provide identification.
